children partyThe Queen will throw a huge children’s party to celebrate classic children’s literature.

The party will be held in the gardens of the Queen’s home, Buckingham Palace, in London on 25th June. It is to form part of her Majesty’s 80th birthday celebrations this year. Different areas of the garden will be devoted to famous English children’s books and characters.

There will be a Mad Hatter’s tea party for Alice and Wonderland, a pirate ship for Captain Hood and Peter Pan, a construction site for Bob the Builder, and a Thomas the Tank Engine train. Postman Pat, Paddington Bear, and Mary Poppins will also be coming to the tea party. Pooh will be wondering through the 100 acre wood with Christopher Robin, who as far as we know, is yet to be replaced by a girl in her Majesty’s book.

The names fo 1000 children will be selected in a computerised lucky dip. Unfortunately the deadline has passed for entries.

Bertie the Frog would like to go, but he is yet to receive an invitation. He doesn’t mind - not really. But he does wish Her Majesty a very happy 80th birthday this year.
