Panda goes free
Chinese researchers have set free a giant panda who was born in their care. Five-year-old Xiang Xiang, whose name means Auspicious, was released from the Wolong Giant Panda Research Centre in the mountains of south west china: a damp and rainy place full of lovely bamboo which is the favourite food of pandas. His keepers spent three years training him to be ready to survive in the wild.
