Cinderella is by far the most popular story on the net, according to our research on Google Trends. (Click chart to enlarge).

Google Trends lets you see compare how many searches there are on Google for various words over time. Cinderella wins hands down in popularity over other classic fairy tales including Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and the Princess and the Pea. In fact, it is far more popular than any other stories we could think of.

Some of the peaks in Cinderella's popularity with online searchers coincide with news references, in particular the release of the movie Cinderella Man starring Russell Crowe, but even so the tale's popularity its is sustained over the years.

Perhaps it's the romantic optimism that is built into the story that wins hearts: "Cinderella, You Shall Go to the Ball !"
