Vista Problems Dowloading MP3s

I’ve mentioned before that Windows Vista sometimes has a problem downloading mp3 audio files such as those on Storynory.  In some cases (mine) it has been issuing nasty and unwarrented warnings not to download.   After a lot of casting around the internet,  I’ve found the solution on a forum.

1.) Go to Conrol Panel in the Start Menu, Go to “Programes” then double-click “Default programs”
2.) Click “Associate a file type or protocol with a program” – takes a few seconds to load the list.
3.) Double-click the file-type under the “name” column (such as “.mp3″). It is probably showing something already, like “Windows Media Player”, but don’t believe it.
4.) Now you’ll have a list of “Recommended Programs”. Double click the one you want. You might have to chose “Windows Media Player” even though it is already “supposedly” set to that. Again, it will show “loading” at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds.

This should resolve the problem.  Happy Listening !
