This year we have an extra lovely Christmas Carol for you. It's not one of the most famous, but it's certainly very pretty ! The tune comes from the Basque Country.
It seems we are not the first to record The Angel Gabriel in a modern manner. Sting and Charlotte Church both got there before us. No doubt the folky feel appealed to them as it did to us.
Sung by Gabriella Burnel
Guitar by Jamie McCredie
Produced by Joe Davison of Auburn Jam

Just in case you are interested to compare, here's Sting's version.
Coming up this Christmas - a super-special Bertie Story ... Do you think he will turn back into a prince ?
The angel Gabriel from heaven came,
With wings as drifted snow, with eyes as flame:
"All hail to thee, O lowly maiden Mary,
Most highly favored lady." Gloria!
"For know a blessed mother thou shalt be,
All generations laud and honor thee;
Thy son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold,
Most highly favored lady." Gloria!
Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head;
"To me be as it pleaseth God," she said.
"My soul shall laud and magnify God’s holy name."
Most highly favored lady." Gloria!
Of her, Emmanuel, the Christ, was born
In Bethlehem all on a Christmas morn,
And Christian folk through-out the world will ever say:
"Most highly favored lady." Gloria!
