Wiz Oz Activity 13: Golden Possessions

In this Wiz Oz Activity you will find your own magical possession just like Dorothy and her friends do in the thirteen chapter of the Wizard of Oz.

Firstly, let's to re-cap the story so far:

Dorothy has melted the Wicked Witch of the West by throwing a bucket of water over her. The Yellow Winkies, once under the command of the Wicked Witch, are now set free.  In return for setting them free from the cruel Witch, the Yellow Winkies reward Dorothy and her friends by turning their possessions into gold.

They give Little Totto and The Lion, each a little Golden Collar.

To Dorothy they give a Gold Bracelet studded with Diamonds.

To the Scarecrow they give a Walking Stick with a Gold head.

To The Tin Woodman they give a Silver Oil Can laden with gold and semi-precious jewels.

Wiz Oz Activity

Do you have a valued possession, like Dorothy and her friends have?

Maybe you take it with you wherever you go, and it helps you, like the walking stick helps the scarecrow.

Step 1:

Choose your special possession, it can be similar to possessions of Dorothy and her friends, or different.

Write down or draw your special possession.

Here's one example: A special school or work satchel that you take where ever you go.

What is is it like? Write down your description.

The satchel could have secret compartments to keep things in, and handles that help you hold it.

Step 2:

Now imagine that The Yellow Winkies have transformed your special possession by giving it golden properties that will help you reach the Emerald city and meet OZ.

How will your Golden Possession help you reach the Emerald city to have your meeting with Oz?

For example if it is a golden satchel,  your favourite book fits in it perfectly, so you can read it as you travel.

Its strap is also adjustable to help you travel light.

Hopefully, with your Golden Possession by your side you will be ready to journey to the Emerald City and meet Oz.
